Deborah Serani, PsyD, ABPP
As a young adult, Deborah Serani descended into a debilitating depression. The fallout from this major depressive episode resulted in a medical leave from college in order to recover. Crediting psychotherapy as life-saving, she directed her focus to the field of psychology - wanting to help others who struggle with challenging issues. Now in practice over 35 years, Dr. Deborah Serani uses her personal experiences with depression to inform her professional work as clinician, author and professor.
She is a Board Certified Specialist in Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and holds a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from Adelphi University. Additionally, Dr. Serani has an Advanced Trauma Certificate in PTSD and Dissociation and a Certificate in Perinatal Mental Health.
