Deborah Serani, PsyD, ABPP

As a young girl, Deborah Serani descended into a debilitating depression.  The fallout from this major depressive episode required her to take a medical leave from college in order to recover. Crediting psychotherapy as life-saving, she directed her focus to the field of psychology - wanting to help others who struggle with challenging issues.

Now in practice over 35 years in New York, Dr. Serani uses her personal experiences with depression to inform her professional work as clinician, author and professor. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychoology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and holds a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis & Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Derner Insitute at Adelphi University.

“People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun's out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light within.”
~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, Psychoanalyst
